Bevel Gears

A bevel gear set consists of a gear and pinion. Click the bevel gear set point object from the Machine Components tool set to insert a bevel gear set.

 

 

Parameter	Description
Value to Use	To specify the gear size, select either Diametral Pitch or Module, and then enter the relevant parameter
Diametral Pitch	Enter the diametral pitch
Module	Enter the module
Shaft Angle (deg.)	Enter the shaft angle in degrees
Face Width	Enter the face width
Make both the gear and pinion the same	Select to use the gear parameter values for both gear and pinion; this can be used to create miter gears
Gear	Select Gear and specify the parameters to draw the gear
Style	Display the gear with or without a hub projection
No. of Teeth	Enter the number of teeth
Pitch Dia. (Ref.)	Displays the pitch diameter based on the diametral pitch and number of teeth
Mounting Distance	Enter the distance from the back of the gear to the pitch apex
Bore Size	Specify the bore diameter
Key Type	If the gear includes a keyway, select keyway shape (with ASME-recommended sizes), or select Custom size and enter the size in the Width and Height fields
Width/Height	For custom keyway sizes, specify the keyway width and height
Hub Diameter	Indicate the hub diameter
Hub Projection	Indicate the hub projection, for styles with a projected hub
Recess	If the gear has a recess, specify the recess value
Fillet Radius	Indicate the fillet radius of the hub
Pinion	Select Pinion to draw a pinion with the gear, and specify the parameters
Style	Display the pinion with or without a projected hub
No. of Teeth	Enter the number of teeth

View	Select the 2D view
Show Pinion at Left	Select to display the pinion on the left side of the 2D bevel gear (only in effect when Pinion is selected)
Draw Center Lines	Select to draw the 2D gear with center lines
